Admissions Policy
Barns Day Nursery Ltd make positive steps to make our provision accessible to children and families from all sections of the community. Our admissions policy operates within an equal opportunities framework and is regularly reviewed to ensure we are meeting the needs of all the families within our provision and local area.
• We will ensure that the existence of our settings is widely known in local communities. We work in partnership with our local schools and children’s centres and these signpost families to the nursery, we also provide information to our families about the schools and groups that are available at the local children’s centres. Advertising notices will be placed in widely accessible areas, in more than one language if appropriate.
• We will describe practices in terms which make it clear that all sections of the community are welcomed.
• We will ensure that the description of the setting and its practices demonstrates how the setting enables children and/or parents with additional needs to take part in the activity of the setting.
• We will monitor the gender and ethnic background of the individuals joining the group to monitor our intake and ensure it is representative of social diversity.
• We will ensure that information about our setting is accessible in written form to all. Where necessary we will try to provide information in spoken form, Braille, in more than one language, through signing or an interpreter.
• Children from the age of 7 weeks will be admitted in accordance with our Ofsted Registration.
• We will endeavour to be flexible regarding attendance to accommodate the needs of all families.
The waiting list will be monitored and reviewed regularly. The following factors will be taken into consideration in allocating places:
• The age of the child.
• For children aged 9 months and older where places are available, hours will be prioritised for children who are eligible to access their Early Years Entitlement (EYE).
• Length of time on waiting list.
• Siblings already attending the setting.
• The vicinity of the home to the setting.
EYE places will be allocated in line with the Code of Practice for Local Authorities on delivering free early years provision for babies and children aged 9 months and over, and with the local conditions set out in the Early Years Provider Agreement.
Parents and carers must complete a registration form before their child starts attending. They must also give consent for Little Gems to hold this information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, GDPR, and Ofsted registration requirements under the Children Act 1989.
Payment
Fee payment is required monthly, one month in advance. Payments may be made by Government Tax free childcare or by online payment, standing order.
Barns Day Nursery Ltd encourages prompt payment but recognises that at times some parents/carers may experience financial difficulties. We will ensure that no child/children/families are penalised should this situation arise. Barns Day Nursery will endeavour to arrange a payment plan that is acceptable to both parties, enabling the child/children to continue to attend. All financial matters will be dealt with the utmost sensitivity and consideration and in confidence.
In the event of non payment:
• The Manager will liaise with the parent/carer concerned.
• A payment plan will be agreed if necessary.
• Where unmet payments continue the owner and manager will liaise with the parent/carer to arrange payment options.
• Where there is no resolution the child’s/children’s place may be withdrawn.
Tax Free Childcare
Barn Day Nursery Ltd is signed up to the tax-free childcare scheme under the names Manor Barn Day Nursery and Little Gems Day Nursery and accepts this as a form of fee payment. Parents will need to sign up for this themselves to ensure they are eligible for the scheme and to set up their online account. Once this is up and running payments can be made from the parent account to the nursery account in a similar way to a bank transfer. 15–30 standard Hours 12-24 Stretched Hours Government-Funded Early Years Entitlement for Working Families with Children from 9 Months Old
Barns Day Nursery settings offer 30-hour Early Years Entitlement funding for working families with children from 9 months old. Funded hours can be used flexibly, from as little as 1 hour per day up to 10 funded hours per day. Parents must apply for the entitlement and, if eligible, will receive a code. This code must be provided to the childcare provider and a parent declaration form fully completed so it can be validated before the funding is applied. 15 Hours Funded Early Learning Childcare for 2 year olds
Barns Day Nursery setting offers Early Learning Childcare places for 2 year olds. This funding is to provide early learning for families in England who are accessing further support such as universal credit or for children with an Education and Health care plan. Tax Credit
Barns Day Nursery Ltd is registered with Ofsted, therefore where appropriate parents/carers are able to claim child tax credit. Details are available upon request.
